  • The Sorry Scam.

    Into decency the Sorry Scam,
    A coffin nail does ram,
For when it is 'sorry' said,
    Sayers think the problem dead,
And that the word is to all a sign,
They should under problems draw a line,
For did the word not prove,
It's time for all to forward move?

    Everyone wrongdoing should forget,
And about the wrongs not fret,
    For where is the sense,
In looking for of remorse some evidence?
And as well the problem now behind,
    Should not wrongdoers bind,
Who become free to take their ease,
And do whatsoever does them please.

There is after all no sense,
    In remorseful recompense,
The word itself should be enough,
Especially if it comes with fluff,
And so today we know that those who dare,
Get away with pure hot air,
By serving up a word with cream,
    Which does absolutely nothing mean.

    "Right," said Fred,
    The Shred,
    "I'm keeping all my bread,
And as I of stupid plonkers have no dread,
    You can all drop dead."

  • The Sorry Scam.

In today’s world, simply saying ‘sorry’ is a great way of escaping from difficult situations. All a person has to do is use their vocal cords to emit the sound of ‘sorry’ and then demand that because they have apologised it was time for everyone to draw a line under the matter and move on.

However, in the old days, when somebody said they were sorry, they were expected to demonstrate their feelings of remorse in some tangible way and in my opinion, the Japanese did it best by committing hari-kari as a way of proving their feelings of remorse.

In consequence, if the bankers really mean they are sorry, shouldn’t they demonstrate their remorse in some tangible way? As it stands at the moment it seems that having said 'sorry,' these people think that they are now free to go and enjoy the benefits of all the money they have been paid. They’ve said the magic words and so now the matter is closed.

It’s up to the people now. Will the people of this country allow themselves to be bamboozled by the magic words or will they demand some kind of tangible proof that the words carried meaning and were not just hot air?

  • Hollywood Oscars

When movie stars their Oscars celebrate,
So they their art can rate,
In ways all would like to emulate.
    The excitement does pulsate,
    And egos all vibrate.
    As for results they wait.
But what in truth they radiate,
Is visions of a zoo and a primate,
    Who himself does masturbate.

  • High St@kes, No Prisoners.

Picked this up in a charity shop for £1.50 and must say it’s the best value for money deal I’ve had in a long time.

Published in 1999 and written by Charles H. Ferguson it’s a classic on the Internet which is sure to last and last. But as Charles Ferguson was the man who thought up and developed the program which has since become known as Microsoft Front Page, one would expect a book that was special.

At times the text does become a little technical so it is a book that is only for those who are interested in the history of computers and the Internet but, that aside:

This book is a must for anyone who would wish to understand the history of the Internet.

This book is a must for anyone who would like to understand the true nature of Microsoft under Bill Gates.

This book is a must for anyone who would like to understand the war between Netscape and Microsoft and why Microsoft won.

This book is a must for anyone with a new idea who wants to approach a venture capitalist.

This book is a must, really, for anyone who is intersted in the internet and computers.

    ------
Another high quality book on the history of computers is 'FIRE IN THE VALLEY' by Paul Freiberger and Michael Swaine. (These authors claim that Bill Gates, as a young fifteen year old, was actually caught causing business computers to crash. In fact he discovered a 14 key sequence which would crash a DEC operating system. (Page-30))

  • Singing and Dancing in the Crunch.

    Banks today are going down,
    Going down,
And me the world can see,
    Prancing like a youthful chimpanzee.

    As my head I shake,
    And my chest I thump,
    I loud noises make,
As up and down and round about I jump.

    Silverbacks got their comeuppance,
So perhaps the world has sense,
And now as through the trees I swing,
My song of joy I sing.

British banks have been institutionally dishonest for a long time now and I’m not the only one to have lost substantially because a good quality savings account which paid a fair rate of interest was secretly downgraded to a rubbish account which paid virtually no interest at all. Let them rot.

Captain Mannering (Mainwaring) would never have worked in a modern British bank.

  • The Credit Crunch Continues.

The news just gets worse and worse.

    Who is to blame?

It’s quite obvious that the Americans are to blame.

If you don’t believe me read chapter five of Robert Peston’s ‘Who Runs Britain?’

But having ripped off the world’s economic systems, no matter how bad things get, all these bankers are expecting to continue living lives of luxury and ease.

Both you and I may have difficulty just getting by, but these bankers are unlikely to suffer. In fact, if you read books like ‘Liar’s Poker’ you’ll see that in these investment banks, selling bad bonds and ‘ripping a customer’s face off,’ was considered to be funny and was often the norm rather than the exception.

For a long time these Wall Street banks have been guilty of an institutionalised dishonesty which eventually became too much for the world’s economy to cope with.

(F.I.A.S.C.O. by Frank Partnoy is another book worth reading if you're interested in Wall Street dishonesty.)

So, why should you and I suffer while the people who caused the problem continue to live lives of luxury and ease?

  • Trains

There was a young lady who travelled by train,
And by men to be looked at was fain,
But one day the men wouldn't stare,
So she a full monty did dare,
And then to a judge had herself to explain.

    In Betting shops, FOBTs,
    Try to all us tease,
Promising that if we would a little sin,
We loads of dosh might win,
    Government trickery at its worst,
Taxing those who are with weakness cursed.

    Flat Earth News,
    A book with new views,
Is one you should not miss,
    As none can it dismiss.

    It's written by Nick Davies,
Who shows the British media now have rabies,
Because they lies will speak and havoc wreak.
    As they profits seek.

  • Flat Earth News by Nick Davies

    This is an excellent book.

If you want to survive the credit crunch it’s one you’ll have to read because it will help you keep your feet on the ground and, in consequence, give you a much greater chance of keeping your head when all around are losing theirs.

    Essential reading.
